I'm trying to understand this bbt thing.
How does temperature work? Do your body need to stay in a temp?

Answer

No it doesn't. The actual temp doesn't matter, it's the overall pattern. You want to see a regular trend and then a spike in temperature the day after you ovulate. Then your temps should stay above the pre-ovulation temps for at least 10 days and then it should drop on the day of (or before or even after) your period. If you're pregnant, it should stay up after ovulation.

Just remember that jumps and dips are normal. You want to try and take your temp first thing after you wake up, without moving unless you have to. Try to take it after a solid block of sleep of at LEAST 3-4 hours. Also taking it at the same time is important, but each person is different. Some people get accuracy in taking temps at the same time, some people get accuracy in taking it at any time but after a solid block of sleep. And some people need both. I get accurate temps after 4 hours of sleep, no matter the time.
