Too early to announce?

Is it too early to announce my pregnancy at 6 weeks (to family)? I don't have my first dr appointment until 10 weeks to have an ultrasound. I had a blood test to confirm at 5 1/2 weeks and it was positive. I wouldn't want them to know if something were to go wrong.
