Home Birth: would you ever?

Question

I am a firm believer that pregnancy & birth are two of the most wonderful experiences in life.

I planned to have my first baby at home, but my labor wasn't progressing (after 21 hrs dilated to only 2cm, contractions 30s apart) and I needed a break. My midwife suggested an alternate route; I opted to go to the hospital where I got an epidural, a chance to recover and continue with a vaginal delivery.

Even though my birth plan changed I was still very pleased with the outcome. I am planning, with my current pregnancy, to do a home birth again. This time around I am much more prepared and at least know what to expect.

I know home birth isn't for many, but I am curious to see how many women actually know about it and don't view it as a negative, midevil thing.

I'm planning home births for this baby and all my future babies. The negative opinions surrounding it exist simply due to women being uneducated about it. For me it's the obvious choice.

I'm planning a home birth, so I can be on my own turf, take my time and make my own decisions without the pressure of a hospital staff. And I know, on the off chance something were to go wrong that I have transportation to the hospital if I need it.

I've already had one and plan on doing it again! I LOVED it! One of the best decisions I've ever made. And it was way easier than I thought it would be.

I think you should go wherever YOU feel most comfortable giving birth. Some people that is in the comfort of their own home and for others that is with lots of doctors around. Personally I go with hospital birth because if I hadn't with my first we may have lost her and myself. But ever person is different and every birth is different. So just do what puts you most at ease. ?

personally its not something I could do as im a worry nut & worry about being too far away from docs etc, I do however believe that if its where you want to do it & your not a 'high risk' or anything that you know is dangerous to be doing it then go for it, I would love to have the strength to try it but personally it scares me :) good on you for giving it a go! :)

I love the idea but know that all too easily something can go wrong! So to save myself heartache i will always give birth in a hospital xxx

I like the idea however I just can't risk mine or my child life. Anything can happen n I don't live close to a hospital if it did go bad. I  am doin an all natural birth at a hospital considering a birthing center instead tho

I would never ever do it. I don't think it's bad for people who like that kind of stuff. but for me it's a huge no.
