Having a baby in college?

Question

I am 24 years old, I have been married for two years (well, February 14, 2015 will make two years). I am graduating college May 2017 and will have two BAs, I'm a double major in business management and accounting. I think that we could have a baby now and that I could manage everything fine, but my DH has doubts that I could do it. I realize that it's going to be difficult, I'm not living in a fantasy world. Lol! However, I also know myself, I know how determined I am and how set I am on graduating and on having a family. I know that if I set my mind to it that I can succeed. I also have a strong support system, my family is very very supportive and will help me in every way possible with the baby. I have never wanted anything as much as I want to start a family! Any thoughts?

If you don't have a baby in college you'll have a baby during your busy schedule in your career... Then you have to miss a lot time on your job and risk being replaced at your job. It's never a perfect time to have a baby.

Honestly as a college student myself I think it's an extremely bad idea... with a full class load and part-time work there's no way in hell I could manage a kid, I can barely keep myself functioning with finals next week.

I have a friend who is still in college and had a baby. I know it was tough for her and the father since it was unexpected, but she is doing great in school (highest GPA yet she says). Only issue with them is that the father has to work to provide, but he plans to go back to school in the future. If you can get 2 BAs, I'm sure you can handle a baby :)

I served in the military, had my son while I was still in, got married, then officially started college. There is never a good time to TTC/have a child. There will always be *something* besides the child that will keep you busy. It ultimately comes down to when you feel you're ready.

I work part time and go to school full time and have done so with a young child. I had no support system and a deployed husband. Im not at all extraordinary so I'm sure you can do it! It's hard, but I'm sure it will be easier with people you can count on for support. Also, I do have family time still and I am more focused on them and making the time count when I'm with them.

I think it is a perfectly good idea if you think you are ready. My fiancée and I are in college trying as well. He has the same worries, that it will be too much for us to take on. But I have never wanted anything as much as I want to start a family with him. I say go for it! You will be a great mother! Good luck!

I'm at university doing a full time course in forensics, in my second year, I started last year when my daughter was just 2 months old, it's been hard but I've been determined and been getting a lot of support from husband. You can do it!  Follow your heart

I think it would be smart to wait until graduation and start trying then. But I think the most important thing is that your husband is on board with you. I think that if you try when he has doubts that it could lead to arguments down the road.
