Hi! New to the group :)
Hi ladies! I've been lurking for a little while on here, and finally decided to introduce myself :) I recently went to my doctor and she suspects I have endo. I didn't really start to have symptoms until about 6 months ago. I've always had moderately painful periods (just on cd 1) and some ovulation pain, but nothing I would describe as severe, so I was a little shocked by my doctor's initial diagnosis. Especially because the whole reason I went to the doctor was because I've been getting sick with Ovulation. I've dropped about 15 lbs in six months because I literally lose all appetite whatsoever around O, and either have intense nausea and/or diarrhea for the 24 hours surrounding my"peak" ovulation day. I originally suspected IBS, but I've never had colon problems up until now. So when I noticed it coincided with O, I figured it was either hormone related or due to a cyst. After my second IUI in June, they saw a cyst measuring at 3.7 cm hanging off of my left ovary. At the time, my doctor said it was a follicular cyst and would dissolve eventually. But every month since then, I've had sharp pain on that side only, and it's usually more intense around O. So after tons of time on Google (worst possible thing to do - I know!), I definitely thought my"new" symptoms were related to the cyst. Come to find out, that cyst was still there! As of my US on Tuesday, that cyst is still hanging out, and it's even grown a little - to 4.1cm. But instead of just treating the cyst, the doctor has come up with an endo diagnosis and wants to do a lap. She says I'm"textbook endo" - whatever that means! I'm literally torn on what to do. The surgery will cost me a lot of money out of pocket even with my insurance (close to $5K), and I'm not sure if I even have it! So I've been thinking of trying acupuncture. I'm just worried if it is endo, that it will get worse the longer I wait. I'm actually more worried about this cyst damaging my ovary. A little background on me.. I'm 32, ttc #1, and DH and I have been ttc for 17 months. I had one miscarriage a year ago, and we have tried fertility treatments (2 IUIs) both of which failed. DH has subnormal motility, and I checked out"normal" (hormonally) and in a saline sono. My doctor actually told me I had a"perfect" shaped uterus. Go figure! Has anyone ever tried acupuncture to treat endo and/or cysts and had success? What do you currently do to manage your endo (besides meds)? Any insight you ladies can share would be appreciated! Thanks in advance!
