With my son, I was dilated to 1cm and 75% effaced for 3 weeks before I actually gave birth. My due date was January 18, a Friday. At my last dr appt before my due date, my ob stripped my membranes and told me to go to the hospital Sunday night to get checked in to be induced Monday morning. That night (a Friday), my husband and I went out for our last date together before baby. By the end of the night, I was exhausted and uncomfortable. Saturday, we went to our best friends daughter's first birthday party and then went over to his parents house, where I took a 2hr nap before we went out for his grandfather's birthday dinner. After dinner, we all went back to Nanny and Grandad's house and when I went to the bathroom, my mucous plug had come out completely. Sunday morning, we decided to not go to church so we could make sure we had everything ready for the induction. We went to Nanny and Grandads for lunch, like we do every Sunday, and I was very uncomfortable. I pretty much just laid around all day and slept on and off. That night, around 7:30, we went to check in at the hospital. They got me into the birthing suite and when they checked me, I was 90% effaced and dilated to 2cm. They gave me citadex to finish ripening my cervix and within 10 minutes, my contractions had picked up and were coming every 1-2 minutes. They checked me again and I was at 4cm. Within an hour, I was dilated to a 5 and my waters were bulging. I asked to go to the bathroom before they broke my water  and when I went to get back in bed after, my water broke on its own. When they checked me again right after that, I was at 7cm. I got my epidural immediately after that and then slept until the nurse checked me again and said I was fully dilated and ready to push. After waiting for the dr to get there, I pushed a total of 7 times and our son was born! Michael Ray was born at 6:51am on January 14 and weighed 7lbs, 12oz and was 20" long! From the time I checked into the hospital to the time he was born wa only 11hrs. Mikey will be 2 in January and his little brother is due in February!
