Tetanus shot

Everytime I go to the OBGyn they talk to me about getting the tetanus & flu shots. My mother and grandmother are both very strong influences in my life and both say they don't believe in getting shots or taking medicines during pregnancy, they've both been pregnant 4 times & neither got any shots... So they told me I shouldn't get any shots, I wasn't going to but all the nurses have been really pushy one even told me that babies in our county have died recently from whooping cough. Im a worrywart so im thinking I might just get the tetanus shot to be safe. Have any other mommies to be gotten the tetanus shot? Help! Idk what to do, my baby is coming in January!
