When is too soon to get married/engaged?

My husband and I got married after only being together for a little over a year (also, straight out of highschool). We've been married now for close to 6 years. It depends on the relationship and what you and your partner feel is right.

We were engaged after 4 mobths and married within 6 months of knowing each other. Everyone thought it was too fast but 8 years later we are still happy!

I think each person is unique. My husband planned out engagement 1 month into us dating and popped the question at 3months. We married 8months later... BUT we also knew eachother for ten years before ever going on a date. He is 8 years older than me and best friends with my brother-in-law. So we were about to get to know one another well and build a good friendship before we ever thought about dating. Once it happened we just knew it was right.. I think it's all personal preference.

We where ready to get married from day 1 but we are now over a year and a child on the way. And my SO wants to have a small wedding so I have the same last name as the child.

I think it depends on the relationship. No one can tell you what's too soon or too early. My husband and I got married after knowing each other for 6 months and we just celebrated our 3 year anniversary. I would do it all over again a million times.

Too soon according to who and what makes anyone an authority on the subject?  My husband called me his wife the first day we met. He met my parents 2 days after we met, but we dated for 8 months before we got married. My two cents:  timing all depends on the 2 of you...

It depends on age. I think if you're under 25 don't get married yet. Both of you are still developing and finding out who you are. At the same time follow your gut. If it doesn't work out its not the end of the world.
