Negative pregnancy test

I took a first response pregnancy test yesterday (at 3 days past my expected period date) and it came back negative. I'm typically very regular and haven't been late in over a year. As I was about to throw the used test out, I noticed that the expiration date was 11/14. Do u think that the negative result is still an accurate reading considering that it's only a couple of weeks passed the expiration date
