Am I justified in acting badly when I'm on my period?

Two days ago, the night before my period, I yelled at my boyfriend at one point (like just raised my voice for one sentence when we were having a minor argument) and was just overall acting really stressed out and annoyed while he was being positive. The next night I was acting really nice at first and I felt aggrivated by him so my mood went downhill, and I just went home instead of hanging out with him for a little as planned which made him very upset. Now he is saying I treat him with disrespect and I'm an immature baby etc etc. Is my period not a worthy excuse? I feel hurt because when I feel bad I wish he would make me feel better instead of so much worse - is that too much to ask when I'm acting badly myself?
