HPV- what's your experience?

Have you ever had it? Did it reach the stage of cervical cancer? If so, what were the signs leading up to cervical cancer, did you have surgery and how did it go? If not, how soon did your body get rid of it? I did get all 3 shots over 6 years ago, but I was just recently diagnosed. I have to go back for a repeat pap in 6 months.

I have it. I showed absolutely no signs of it until my pap came back with it while I was pregnant. Doctor said that happens a lot. It went away again soon after delivery. 
There are many different strands of HPV. Some cause genital warts, cancer, etc. There isn't any way to test and see what strand that you have. Some go away on their own in a matter of months. Other peoe have it for many years. It's just something your doctor needs to keep a very close eye one. Never miss a pap.

I have it and have the genital warts and high risk of cervical cancer strains. All they did was give me medicine for it if I have a outbreak and I go to have a Pap smear every 6 months. Also I found out it's very unlikely to get cervical cancer under the age of 30. So that kind of relieved me. I would make sure if you giving or receiving oral sex than you can your mouth and throat of you and your partner looked at. Because it can cause vocal cancer also. Basically HPV is a pain is the ass. Some people say if your immune system is strong enough it will fight it off and others says that's not true. So I'm kind of just living with it!

I had the kind that causes cancer. And had to have surgery twice. After paps every 6 months for 2 years I was finally cleared and told it was gone. Have had normal paps ever since. I had no symptoms at all except an abnormal pap which required further testing and then the surgeries. I guess in a sense I was lucky, although the first time the drs gave me 30 days or less before they'd consider the cells cancer and have to potentially have a hysterectomy. Get tested, get help and follow drs orders.

I have it and have had mild dysplasia for around three years. It flares up and goes down. My gyno just keeps an eye on it and usually gives me a biopsy once or twice a year depending on the cells. I hate having to deal with it. The constant threat of cancer is really stressful for me.

My mother had it and reached cancer. She went through the whole process of tests. She is clean and free now but every six months she goes in to get her "insides" she says hahaha scraped. She was diagnosed at 45 and is 50 now. She says it is painful like bad menstrual cramps when she gets scraped. I hope that helps a little.
