Anyone planning a home birth??

Question

Thinking of s home birth for baby number 4. Had a c-section with first birth but normal delivery with the other 2 and would love to birth at home. Anyone else similar??

Hi Louisa! We're planning a home birth. Originally wanted to do a midwife-led unit birth but our local one is independant from a hospital and 20 min from the local hospital, whereas we live 4 minutes from the hospital, so figured we're closer here and might as well since you get the exact same care at home/in midwife-led unit. It's my first baby/birth but no one has said that would be an issue GP and midwife are very supportive of it, as long as I continue to be healthy and have no complications they're happy with it. My GP actually said she thought it was safer to have a home birth than a hospital birth if you're healthy/low risk! She said there's more risk of infections/mrsa at the hospital than home. Pretty funny!

Hey that's really great, thank you muchly - going to speak with my midwife at my next appointment :) think the main problem for me is that I have had a previous c-section so likely they'll try to encourage me to birth in the hospital.

I really really really  wanted home birth for this baby (#2) but hubby wasn't at all keen because of the mess and he thought it is somthhing that should be done in a hospital so we met half way and I'm going to a birth centre (if placenta moves that is)
