Has anyone hired a doula?

Thinking of hiring one.. Has anyone done this before or going to? Do you think it's worth it? I won't be having any family or friends in the delivery room so thought a doula might be a support but don't want to spend the money if it's not worth it..

I'm hiring a doula pair! One is not enough, constant massage is hard and it's less uncomfortable when they can laugh and joke and tell stories amongst themselves. I find the distraction of the conversation eases me. I don't like being the center of attention, especially when I'm not at my best. So their company and easy comraderey is nice.

I've just hired one. This is our first baby and I want to go natural but have no idea how I'll react in the moment, so any support I can get to stay on track will be appreciated. :)

I have, and it's so worth it. Mine has done over 100 labors! She knows her stuff, knows how to be calming and practical, helps with labor progression, and even documents it all for me in a keepsake book at the end! I will not do labor without her!!
