When should your first dr apt be??

Im trying to schedule mine, but when should your first apt be? How far along? Thanks!!!

I think they normally like to schedule around 8 weeks so that there will be a heartbeat & everything, not just a sac!

I had my first official appointment at 10 weeks they did an ultrasound, did all the blood draws for the testing, filled out the paperwork, got prescribed prenatal vitamins and all the normal stuff like that. My next appointment is at 14 weeks and that's when I get to see my actual doctor and finally get to talk to her about everything.

In south Australia we can see our gp at any time to do bloods and organize a dating scan. We don't get a hospital appt until 10 weeks and then another scan at 12 Weeks to check for down syndrome. 
Wish we could See a midwife earlier as there is a million questions I want to ask. I have my appt on Thursday though!

My OB said 8-9 weeks. I went at 9 weeks. They did an ultrasound to measure the size for the due date, then took blood and urine to do standard tests. Then we talked about my and my husband's background and family history and recommended certain genetic tests. FYI, I'm in the US, and our cystic fibrosis genetic analysis was not covered by insurance, we got a $300 bill for it. Double check which tests are covered.

I would just call your OB and ask when they typically like to see pregnancy patients.

I had a special circumstance since I had to go to the ER for food poisoning the same day we found out I was pregnant so they confirmed it for me that same day. But I would just call the OB's office and see how soon you should come in.

My OB waits until eight weeks.  First visit comes with an ultrasound, time worth the doctor,  and generic counseling,  if you want it.

I was 6 weeks when I first went to the doctor to confirm pregnancy then 10 weeks when I met with the doctor and had my first ultrasound!
