Breast pump through insurance?

So I have heard a lot about some insurances paying for a breast pump. Can someone explain to me how I would find out if my insurance is one of those that would pay and if they do how do I go about getting one? I am due in 7 weeks and I want to be prepared for when she comes. Thank you for your input!

Called the number on my insurance card. They gave me a website and also had me call my doctor to write a prescription for one.

I have not ordered one yet, but a coworker who just had a baby and who is on the same insurance told me she called the insurance company and they sent her links to different models that are covered. She chose one, the insurance put her on a waiting list and sent it to her a few weeks later. Sounds like calling your insurance is the first step. I have also been told by my HR benefits lady that some insurance companies try to make this process very difficult for you and won't do anything until the baby is already born - at which point many women have already chosen to buy something on their own. Hopefully that's not true of many. Let us know how it goes!

TRICARE and FEP both cover the cost now.

Your insurance HAS TO cover a breast pump as part of the Affordable Care Act. Call your insurance company and ask how you get your pump. The only insurance that has been allowed an exemption is tricare, which is the military insurance. But all other insurance is required to cover a pump.

My insurance through work, Cigna, pays for the rental of a pump. Not sure if that's whT all carrier do. You need to get an explanation of benefits from your carrier. Or just call them and ask!

Call your insurance co. They will give you the website of a company that you can go thru. I filled out the form online tonight and they will call me with the model my insurance covers. Super easy!

I emailed my insurance (you can call if your insurance doesn't have this feature) and asked about the coverage first (so for me, 100% covered for manual pumps in AND out of PPO, 100% covered for electric pumps IN PPO, and only like, 85% covered for electric pumps OUT of PPO), and then I asked if they could help assist me on finding providers within PPO and they sent me a list of a few providers. 
I then got a prescription from my doctor.
I went to the provider's website and usually they will have a section for insurance covered breast pumps. Find your insurance and it will show which breast pumps are covered.
I was able to order it directly from their website, and then had to fax in the prescription I got from my doctor (otherwise, I think they had to call the Dr. directly). Then.... It came in the mail! :)

My dr told me she puts in the order when it gets closer to my due date. Kinda like a prescription I guess! Ask your dr at your next appointment they can normally point you in the right direction!
