Would you let yourself go?

Question

My fiancé and I are talking about the things we want few years after we get married. He told me that some women no longer make time to make themselves beautiful when they get married and he told me he wants me to stay beautiful, still wearing nice dresses, keep my hair long etc. And I got really upset when he said that. 
I told him that if he will not marry me and if I will not bear his child then I will always have time for myself and my body won't change. I said that because I was upset because in my mind I felt like he will not love me and his feelings will change if I get curvy after we get married.  Why did he say that he wants me to be beautiful after marriage?

Does that mean he will change and will no longer love me if my body changes after I give birth?

He's not telling you he won't love you if you gain some weight, he's saying he doesn't want you to 'let yourself go' or 'turn into a slob'. A lot of people when they get married they just stop caring about how they look. If you're dressing up for him while dating you should do the same when married. Always always always date each other. Have the same attitude towards each other that you did. Rather than, " well I've got him now, he's not going anywhere so I don't have to impress him any longer" both of you should continually work to be your best for the other

For me it doesn't matter what anyone else thinks and my fiancé knows that. I'm 13 weeks pregnant and still working out everyday. Still do my hair and make up. He doesn't care either way. I like taking care of myself. Will it change when the baby is here? Who knows.  I do everything I can to remain healthy.  That should be everyone's goal, to be healthy. And if he doesn't understand that tell him too bad.

I don't think any woman lets herself go intentionally. I think it's mostly the comfort and security of the relationship that often leads to complacency.

Well it's never good to let yourself go. I love my boyfriend, but if he gained 200 pounds and stopped caring about dressing nice, I would lose attraction, and that is part of love and sex. You need to be attracted to your partner. And also be healthy.

He probably means that he wants you to still work on yourself. Like don't sit around and gain 200 pounds. Still put on make up and nice dresses and outfits...stuff like that.

Honestly in glad I never put on make up, I never really have so now that I'm to exhausted to I look the same and my so is none the wiser. He proposed to me when weighted 180 pounds which is the most I have ever weighted I now weight 150 and I'm. Pregnant, I'm not to worried about him being upset with my baby weight. We both have just vowed to stay healthy so when my weight goes up he points it out(not now that I preg) and same with him. We motivated each other to exercise and be active :)

when me n my so got together we were both in great shape once I got pregnant I gained over 50lbs!!! my so did as well we did not do it on purpose but we let ourself go ... we are currently working on getting a gym membership n eating healthy  before n after lol

I think its because some women just completely let go when they get married. Ive seen women who stop doing their hair always in sweats. They simply dont care. I dont think what he said was that offensive but thats just MY OPINION. I mean why not keep up some maintenance and keep looking pretty for your man. I get that having babies one day you mayb not have as great of a body but do your hair and dress presentable
