New to opk

So, we are going to start TTC soon and I figured I'd go ahead and start using some opk I got on amazon so I'd know what I was doing. When in your cycle is best to start? Time of day? Any tips?

Why do you want to use a test? If you know your cycles and you're regular, why not yet have sex when its most likely you'll get pregnant? I don't understand why everyone wants to use tests, unless they're are having trouble.

If you have regular cycles, 27 to 29 days, you can start on CD 10. I usually have a faint line on CD 11 or 12, and it gets darker each day until I get my positive the day before ovulation, which was CD 15 this month for me.

I took this today. Cd 8. I know its negative. Can I gather any other info from it?
