How did you give birth?

Pros and cons of each? I have heard horror stories about getting an epidural. I've also heard the recovery time for a c section is awful.

I've done natural and epidural. I never really had a problem with the epidural but with my third I thought I was some super woman and could do it without (til it was too late, then I wanted it so bad) the difference was with my first two they did coached pushing with the epidural and I pushed for 1.5-2 hours with each. I was so tired by the time the urge to push came that it was harder and I had tearing. With the natural I waited till I was ready to push and he was out in 20 minutes, no tearing at all. But it was so painful. I screamed, and cussed the doctors mother so hard. And I pushed so hard I broke all the blood vessels in my face and looked like a crazy speckled person for a week after. There upsides and downsides to all. But next time....I want all the drugs

I will have a natural birth when I get pregnant and have a baby. No shot in the back for me. If my mother did it three times, I can do it at least once! I also don't want any pictocin or anything. I want to go as naturally as I am able!

I always planned on an epidural but by the time I realized I was in labor and got to the hospital I was too far to do one. Now that I've done it naturally I plan to have all my kids naturally. It wasn't that bad, I pushed for maybe 20 mins, no tears, and I left the hospital feeling pretty good. My only problem was my anemia was pretty bad for the first couple days after.

I was induced and labored for 13 hrs - I was really lucky and only pushed for 30 mins to get my baby out. I did an epidural about hour 6 I think it was the best thing. It worked really well for me and I just felt so much more confident pushing knowing it wouldn't hurt. I was debating when I should get my epidural and the nurse told me some great advice - when the labor cramps are bad enough you aren't scared to get a shot in your back then you are ready for an epidural!!

I've had both. With my epidural it took very long and was very very exhausting. I felt so weak afterwards that I could hardly hold my baby and I slept so long after that I missed a feeding and they fed him by bottle. They also do this thing where they push on your stomach the next day to get blood out and it was probably the most painful thing I remember.  With my natural birth things went a lot faster. Very painful but turns out I survived. I felt like super woman after. I could walk, carry, hold and feed my baby. I even felt closer to my baby. I guess because I was fully there. I wasn't in pain afterwards. They pushed on my stomach and it didn't hurt and I felt great. Total opposite of what I expected but it felt great. I was too scared with my first birth to do it natural which is normal, but since I've done it natural now, I will always do it natural. But it's preference. Some women do get epidurals or C-sections and that's great for them!

I was induced both labours, had unnecessary intervention due to 'failure to progress' and ended up both labours with an emergency c section. This time I will refuse to be induced, refuse intervention and aim for a natural home water birth with a private midwife and doula. I can always transfer to hospital if anything goes wrong and have midwife for medical examinations and to make sure everything is safe and doula for extra support when hubby needs a break as well as my friend who has birthed unattended during a home water birth, and had multiple home water births with independent midwives. I've done ample research, even a birth doula course myself and am 100% happy with my decision.
My hospital births we very traumatic and my first c section I could still feel what they were doing and screamed through most of it, my second my c section wound tore after 4 weeks and had to start healing from scratch, ended up infected and extremely painful, both healing processes were horrible, most of the time I felt useless, unable to fully care for my new baby and also like I failed as a woman and mother for not being able to birth my baby naturally.

I had to have a c-section because pitocin completely stopped my labor ugh if I could do it over again I would insist on no pitocin

I would love to do a natural birth when it's time.  I'm actually planning on natural birth. I don't feel comfortable getting an Epidural but unfortunately I won't know til it happens. But my personal opinion.... women did it for along time without the "goods" we have today and my mother did it twice soooo

I'm really hoping for natural birth but am nervous now as I was told yesterday I have placenta previa. I'm about 20 weeks, hoping it moves by my next ultrasound at 28 but feeling stressed out and sad.
