Anyone taking Zofran??

Hey this is my first pregnancy and I'm starting to get paranoid seeing all these lawsuit commercials on tv and Facebook about zofran causing birth defects. Ive had bad morning sickness since 6wks and I'm now 15 wks and still pretty nauseous and throwing up at times and seems like zofran is the only thing that helps! My doctor claims its  considered safe to take and there isn't enough evidence to prove it causes birth defects...so I was just curious if anyone else is  taking zofran or what the views are on it! Thanks!!

I'm in the same boat. First pregnancy and dr diagonosed me w hypermesis gravidarum. I have lost so much weight, it's crazy! Been on zofran since the beginning. It freaked me out bc i see those commercials all time. But remember, it's from law firms trying to make money with accusations that have never been proven.I had an indepth conversation w my dr about this. There is no proof or study done that finds these accusations to be true. And in my case, there are literally days where I can't keep sips of water down, let alone food so my dr told me that I would be doing more harm than good to my baby if I don't continue taking it bc my baby will not grow anyways if I can't keep food down and I'm not getting enough nutrition to the baby for it to develop properly. Therefore, I still take it! The hardest part is dealing with friends and family who constantly harass me about taking it because they see those stupid commercials. So now when anybody questions me about it I just say yes I'm still taking it. There is no study done that proves it is harmful which is why it is not been taken off the market by the FDA. And because of my condition, my doctor and I feel it is best for me in baby to take it.

I feel for you. It's hard to go through this. Has your dr diagonosed you w hypermesis?

My Dr just prescribed it for me, I've actually been sicker in my second trimester more than my first. I've thrown up everyday and pretty much to the point I'm starting to get dehydrated. I see the commercials too and am like great lol, but I'm sure my Dr would of given me something different if it really was as bad as they make it out to be. I've got the dissolvable one and the pill, hate the aftertaste of the dissolvable one.

I took it during my first tri cause the nausea was so bad.  I've taken it maybe twice in my second tri.

I throw up multiple times daily and it's been this way since week 6. My doctors prescribed me zofran, I took it once (it totally helps) but then did my own research to find it can do more harm than good. I've been sick as hell, but avoided taking it. I'm at week 16 and still no relief... I did some more research and it looks like the only "category A" nausea medicine that's approved by the FDA is Diclegis. I plan on asking my doctor about that tomorrow.

I have been in the medical field for years and I KNOW doctors don't know everything. I have seen it on so many occasions. Please don't always trust them because they are doctors.

Omg don't take it!!! I found a different dr when mine recommended zofran!!! Heart defects and cleft palet no thank you! There has been so many studies this shit should be outlawed!! I promise the nausea will pass or try  the natural remedies such as "sea band mamma". I can not believe doctors are still suggesting women take this medication. Don't risk it. It's tough I know but it's not worth the risk.

You could try switching to Diclegis. It is category A for pregnancy. I have found it to be very effective for my nausea. Check out this article for more info:
