Deli meat?

Question

I didn't see it on my doctors list to avoid while pregnant, but I've read you should stay away from it. Anybody heard of this? There isn't too many things I like eating right now, and a sandwich always sounds good.

You can eat it if its like a toasted sandwich. But you should avoid in heated or uncooked deli meat because there is risk of a bacteria that can harm your baby.

They recommend you heat it until its steaming hot. There is a potential of getting listeria which is found in cold deli meats. I would just heat it up, if you go to subway or potbellys just make sure they are running in through there ovens to heat it... should be fine... i almost freaked when i heard you couldnt! Its one of the only things i can eat for lunch that will fill me up (sandwiches) so im glad it was just a matter of heating the meat up :-)

My doctor said as long as it's fresh cut from the deli and heated up, it's fine. She said not to eat the cold packaged stuff.

Definitely avoid those you get pre cut from a deli as they have been sliced and sitting out for a while and can harbor bacteria. If you get meat that has been vacuum sealed it is better. My doc and all my documents say stay away from it but I've had turkey n a sandwich that came from a sealed pack. As long as it's eaten within a day or too. Also don't have any cured meats like salami or pepperoni as they are worse
