Might be stupid

So I'm 18 I've taken sex ed and such so I know everything but I've been wondering why do I get cramping the week I'm ovulating. Like right now I'm cramping but why? Is it related to pms? Or is it just the egg getting ready to shed? Sorry for such a stupid question
