Irregular cycles!!

Ok, so I'm very confused! I have irregular periods and I have only just started tracking them this year, as I was on birth control for 2 years previously, my partner and I are currently TTC #2! Last cycle I changed my length to 43 days as that's how long my last cycle went for, this month i have '12 days until I'm due' and started my period today but had 3 days previous of spotting.

Do I change my cycle length to suit this month? Thanks
