Lots of moving at 36 weeks; labor coming soon?

Question

The baby is literally doing somersaults in my belly. He's been super-duper active since last night. I don't have any other symptoms of labor, but just wondering if others experienced this is the days before. My shower is Saturday, so I'm hoping to hold off until after it!

I've heard they become more still before you go into labor. Like they're saving up their energy.

If baby is that active and not in a solid head down position labor is highly unlikely.

My baby is head down and will NOT calm down...I'm worried he's stressed. I do a non stress test once a week because of my gestational diabetes but he seems like he's trying to swim down or something..it's almost painful..

Yeah everything I've experienced and read, the closer to labor, the less active. Once they're head down they don't rock and roll nearly so much.

Not likely. Usually they move down and wiggle into place and then slow down. But not stop completely
