I would suggest you wear converse if you would like to go for a laid back feel and just wear a dress you feel pretty in.

It's too casual for prom, I think. & I really, highly recommend you reconsider the idea to wear combat boots......... Especially with a dress like that. Doesn't even kinda go together. I understand being yourself. But at least try to look decent for your boyfriend. He's gonna have those pictures forever.

I think it's so pretty, maybe with a different colour ribbon? like a dusky pink? then can match accessories etc

It is a little more casual then expected.  But I do think it would look cute with boots.  I would keep that one in mind but keep looking.  Try to find something with a little more bling, and less lace.

It's a little more causal than prom is. I would pick something else or if you really have your heat sec on that dress add a Colored bow to it and shoes that make it less causal and other accessories. I'm a country girl and my first prom I had a high low dress that was black and white with purple fade from the black to white. Then sophomore year I had a long bluefish black dress. This year I have a poufy blue crystal dress that long with a thin strap. I don't normally wear dresses at all but since it's prom I'm going more fancy like prom is. I really think that dress is to causal for prom. I would change and pick a diferent dress. But if you really really love it and can't find anything else that compares them accessorise and add a Colored belt to it to make it more playful or accessorise very well

My friend wore a dress similar to that, but here in New Mexico, people wear whatever they want and we accept it, so go for it! It looks great!

I think it looks nice. I'm from Australia we don't have prom here (so only reference is movies)... I don't think that dress is overly casual. It's not something I would just wear every day. I would wear that to a wedding or a party. It's nice
