What's the average weight loss after giving birth?

During pregnancy, I believe a healthy weight gain is around 25 pounds....

Let's say you have a seven pound baby (some may be larger, of course). .. I'm sure the after birth and placenta weigh a good five.

So, it all depends.

I have lost 20-25lbs the first few days from water loss and birth. Then it slows down

I was so discouraged to learn I lost zero pounds right after my first...  Even with baby out, it didn't make sense to me but I did retain ALOT of water!  By 3 months I was down 25 pounds.

It depends cause I was 120 before pregnancy, 142 during and right after birth about four days after I weighed 130
