Epidural?

So I'm a first time mommy and I'm very scared for child birth Lol... My SO was saying about an epidural and I was wondering what other ladies have to say about it ?? Does it help with pain?

I did it and I was in such pain that I was shaking and forgetting to breath lol but 5mins after getting no pain just felt a little bit a pressure. I was the same way I was so scared when it came time to push I would feel everything but not one thing... Besides unruly heart burn 😄 don't stress to much about you won't feel a thing promise! 😊

Yes it takes the pain away, but I've done extensive research on pain killers and labor and will not be getting any pain killers unless it is medically necessary that I do so. I have a midwife who is supporting me through my natural birth and I am also taking classes and reading books on natural birth and how to cope with the pain. I'm not scared of labor anymore, I'm actually getting pretty excited for the event!

I had one with my first two pregnancies and personally I hated it. I completely lost my autonomy. I couldn't feel anything, I couldn't move, and I found it really difficult to push. with my first I had a spinal headache and post partum backache, but with my second I had no after effects but still felt useless during labor. With my third I had a natural birth using hypnobabies, and found that to be the right way for me. I am now pregnant with my fourth and plan to have a natural hypnobabies birth again.

It did it, and my sister did with her 5 kids. Yes, it does help a lot with the pain, It makes the whole experience more enjoyable and relaxing.

Everyone experiences the pain differently. I went in with my first thinking I'd see how it went- I was open to drugs or not. I was in so much pain at less than 4 that there was no way I could imagine feeling that for as long as it would take (he was born 13 hours after being admitted to he hospital at 3 1/2"). I had to have the epidural redone because it only worked on one side but it was fine to place the first and second time and made the experience much more manageable. Pushing for 2 hours was hard enough, I cannot imagine feeling excruciating pain and that. I probably would have given up!!

I got one I couldn't feel the contractions at all which was amazing. The pushing still wasn't all that fun but it was manageable. The anesthesiologist gave me a huge first dose and by the time it was wearing off I wasn't sure if I should press the button to give myself another dose because I was about to start pushing. With the first dose I was completely numb from breast down and I couldn't move anything. I pretty much hated that (another reason I didn't want another dose). I hate needles so I wasn't sure that I even wanted an epidural in the beginning but I was induced and the stuff they induced me with made the contractions super strong and painful so I took the needle over the contractions lol. It wasn't bad at all.

I've heard it works wonders. But then I have also heard that down the road it can cause back issues in the area where you got it. I'm a first timer too and honestly don't want to feel a damn thing!! Haha I'm freaked out too.

I'm planning a natural birth with the Bradley Method. I would just say that if you decide to not get an epidural, I would take some natural birth classes or doing some reading on it to learn some techniques to handle the pain.
