When you hit 36 weeks pregnant......

Question

Does this mean baby can come at any time ? Or do you usually go up to your 39 th week ? 
Preferably asking moms about their first born because i'm a first time mom and I know some babies come sooner and some later

37 weeks is full term but your baby will do best if it reaches 40w. Most baby's are born a week either side of the due date but for first time mums it's common to go over. I'm 10 days overdue now with my first. Being induced tonight.

First babies are usually pretty close to their due dates, 37 weeks is considered full term so from that point baby is perfectly ok to arrive. I'm hoping my baby is a bit early!

My first was born at 37 weeks. Water broke at home then had him the next day.

I went 40 weeks and 6 days with my firstborn. I got my membranes stripped in morning an later that evening my water broke. I had a very hard dry labor due too my water breaking at beginning. I'm prego with our number 2 an I'm hoping this time to have patience an let baby come when baby is ready.

I had my son at 39wks, was going to be induced the next night so we went to the beach took a little walk, then I ate some jalepeno bread and of course did the deed to try to jump start labor. By 3am my water broke and I went into labor naturally. Had him later that day at 3pm. Pushed 3-4 times and he popped out. They did give me Patosin once I got to the hospital and that was murder but otherwise a smooth labor.

Well doctors prefer that your baby NOT come at 36 weeks because at that point baby still had lots of growing to do, particularly the lungs. One of my babies came at 36 weeks and ended up in the NICU for a week. If you do happen to go into labor at 36 weeks they aren't going to try to stop labor since it's so close to 37 weeks which is considered by many to be full term. In most cases you can safely go up to 42 weeks before you're overdue. Most people have the common misconception that anything over 40 weeks is "overdue" but that's not true.

It's impossible to predict, unfortunately. I'm 40+1. It's common for first babies to be late though.
