Long distance relationships...

Well I'm in a long distance relationship we started talking almost 1 year ago it started like friends and it stayed like that for a while. We eventually started developing feelings and finally I was able to meet him in person about 4 months ago. He also introduced me to his family and now wants to meet mine. Everyone tells me that we aren't going to work out and that being in a long distance relationship is stupid etc. But the meaning of a relationship to me is friendship, understandment, communication, loyalty, love, compasión and so much more but most importantly TRUST! Sometimes the comments people make about my relationship upsets me although I know i shouldn't care what they say/think. What do you guys think?
