Induced at 39 weeks?!?

Can you ask to be induced at 39 weeks? She's perfectly healthy I'm just incredibly miserable. Can't sleep, can't walk, can't eat without feeling sick...will they do induction for no legitimate reason other then that?

This is an old post but I am going to be asking my midwife the same thing today at my apt. Did you end up getting the elective induction? I don't want them to think im crazy for asking I want my son asap!!

Absolutely. I had problems with my pregnancy (preterm contractions and I caught phemonia from the magnesium they used to stop the contractions, had to get the steroid shots) but I wasn't at risk or anything. They told me as long as my sons heart beat stayed healthy and his stress stayed low I was fine.  My son was holding in there for what seemed like forever and at 36 weeks I asked when I got get him out! My dr told me I had to wait til 39 weeks and 1 day. So we scheduled me to be induced. My water broke the day before my induce date... And I ended up having a c section. Now pregnant with my second and I've already scheduled it for 39 weeks for my c section even though I'm only 25 weeks now.

I was induced at 39 weeks!!no medical reason!!on a last visit I asked doc when can I get my son out and he said "when do you want?let me call hospital if they have  a room!!i was shocked and thought he is joking!!but he said everything is fine baby is healthy and 8 lbs so if you want you don't have to wait!!it was Tuesday and I was induced Thursday and had my boy on Friday😊

Depends on your ob. My cousin begged her ob to induce her so her first child and second child will be exactly a month apart and he agreed?? That's selfish on her part to me, and stupid on her doctors. But certain circumstances I'd say its worth a shot.

Probably not. My OB said I'll be induced at 41 weeks if I haven't given birth by then. The chances of a c section increases if I get induced before/after then.

I am 21w and high risk due to a heart condition. After being put on strict bed rest at 20w I was told I would be induced at 37w by my OB and perinatologist. Being induced at 39 weeks is completely okay and your baby will be fine! 37 weeks is considered full term so if you are induced at 39 weeks you have nothing to worry about!

I'm 24 weeks & my dr told me last appointment they're taking the baby no later than 39 weeks. That may be due to my history but I'm totally fine with that!
