Do you think college is over rated?

I know tons of friends who went to college and got a degree and none of them actually use them. Either they can't gets jobs or they find something better to do, change of heart, not enough cash, just different things happen. So it got me thinking it's college actually overrated?

No, but it's definitely fucking overpriced. 
Have 3 degrees total, I make good money, and I'm still going to be in debt until I'm 50.

I would go again purely for the social growth. It's an incredible experience, you meet people your own age who all have totally different reference points to you, it opens your mind and your eyes to new things. I'm not saying it's for everyone, but I found it benifical in a non acedmenic way.

A good college education isn't over-rated. Unfortunately, a good one is getting harder and harder to obtain. Due to the over-supply of colleges in the U.S., these institutions have been increasingly catering to students as though they are customers to be satisfied (rather than challenged and truly tested). As a result, grade inflation is out of control. Thus, the college name matters more than ever (rather than your GPA).

I have 2 siblings in my family, and me. My sister has 3 degrees and never did anything with them. My brother is mid 30s now and still in school for his 4th degree, and he doesn't do anything with his first 3. I never went to college and am doing better then both of them. I went to beauty school but don't currently even do hair.

Experience is way more valuable then a peice of paper.

College is a necessity for particular careers but not a necessity of life. There are easier ways to enrich your mind without having to drown yourself in debt. I'm a big supporter of libraries and flea markets where a multitude of books, which are no longer in print, can be found. Once upon a time college was was a luxury and only the lucky ones or the most ambitious  sought this avenue of education. Nowadays, it seems as though everybody and their brother attend because that's what is expected if them...

Technical trade schools & certification programs are often underated, and those jobs are in high demand. It's cheaper, quicker, and those jobs often offer decent pay & benefits.

It truly depends on if you can put in that time completely dedicated. It's not for everyone but I'm thrilled I didn't drop out everytime I wanted too😂

The education you receive feels overrated as all fuck and dealing with the bureaucracy of a large university is total horseshit, but I feel like just the experience itself is worth it. You grow so much as an individual, it's mind-boggling. I am literally a completely different person for having stepped so far out my comfort zone, and I actually like this person. Definitely not saying college is life's only worthwhile experience, but you'd be surprised how much it changes you for the better.
