Usually you have to have an exam at the doctors office before they prescribe you the pill so you and your doctor will know if you are pregnant or not and in some birth control pill packs they have one week of a placebo pill which is when your period would be just so you can keep your normal schedule of pill taking.

Do not start the pill until day 1 of your period, unless you want a shit ton of breakthrough bleeding and for it to completely mess up your cycle. Visit the Dr and let them know.

While you are fairly confident you are not pregnant, get the blood test so you can be completely sure. Also there is a shot the doctor can give you to get your period to start right away (Not depo). After that, get started on taking the pill.
