IVF experience?

I've been trying over a year now and never really thought about IVF. That's why wanted to see if you could share your experience.
Has any of you ever had IVF? How was your experience? How old were you? What made you decide to go that route? How long had you been trying before IVF? Was it affordable? Any advice?
