Bottle AND Breastfeeding??

Question

Hi ladies. So I plan on breastfeeding but I also want to use bottles for pumped milk so my SO can help feed and get the experience. But every time  I tell someone my plan they look at me like I'm crazy! Has anyone had experience doing both breast and bottle and can give advice? Thanks!

People swear it and pound it into our heads that using bottle and breast only confuses baby, but no. It doesn't. Yes, the baby might prefer one over the other, but if you rotate both, you'll be fine. 
For both my kids, I gave them bottle and breast so dad and other members could feed them, and they did great. Some of the nurses at the hospital frowned about it but I didn't let them phase me. And trust me, it gives you a much needed break when someone else feeds your little one lol :)

Um they are the crazy ones, what do they expect your baby to starve when your not around? Not every mom is going to be with their child every single day, every minute to be able to feed on demand.
I will be doing this so that when I'm doing nursing school or when our baby is at the grandparents for date night that my baby can still eat. The important thing is is that they are getting their nutrition no matter what way they get it.

Wow thank you so much ladies!!! I was beginning to think it was a really terrible idea because people have been really negative about the idea to me. My friend hair had her baby and cannot leave her baby's side because she's exclusively bf-ing. I just don't want to be like that, if I can help it. Anyway thanks for all your opinions and input!!!

I did this! I started right from the start. She got a bottle at night
And I breastfeed her the rest of the time! What I found worked best was to pump for 5-10 mins after each feeding

That's my plan too. I'm not going to be the only one feeding her and she will start daycare around 8 weeks so I don't have the option.

I breast fed and pumped, nothing wrong with it. i also strictly bottle fed 1 child. Don't worry about who looks at you what way, your baby, your body, your choice.

I'm glad to see this. I want to breastfeed, but I still want my kiddo taking a (breast milk) bottle as soon as possible. My husband wants to help with nighttime feeds, and I want to know that if something happens to me, like needing a surgery or something, that he won't be hungry and miserable until he gives in to an alternative food source.

I've done this with all 3 of mine and will do so this time too. I waited for a few weeks to make sure latching was well established and then pumped so I could go have a bath on my own! Totally possible but remember baby is much better at establishing a good milk supply than a pump and for those first few weeks they need to be on that boob!
