Irregular period

I have two kids ages 11 and 1 and I am pretty sure I am done having kids I just didn't want to go as far as getting my tubes tied, I have tried other birth controls but have had some problems with some. Can anyone tell me if there's a way to track your periods and ovulation with irregular periods ... I can go from 3 months to a whole year without having a period always been that way. If anyone can give me some info I'd appreciate it :)
