Is it a good idea to get my belly button pierced now if im going on holiday in September?

I was diligent with cleaning my peircing while it was still healing. I'd say it took a solid year before it was fully healed and didnt hurt to lay on my stomach or if it caught on clothes it wouldnt hurt.

I used distilled water and sea salt, mixed it in a clean shot glass, and suctioned it to my belly button while leaning over forward, and then carefully layed down for at least 15 minutes. The suction keeps it from spilling everywhere, but sometimes it seeps out so keep a towel handy. Mine has never gotten infected, and I've had it now for 9 years! It migrated very little.

If you are going swimming on vacation I would bring along a cleaner and clean it thoroughly after each water exposure. Also - listen when they say don't remove the orignal bar until 3 months or whatever it is. Major chance of getting an infection and ruining what has started to heal already.

Do you plan on going swimming? Belly piercings can take up to a yr to fully heal, make sure you take good care with it, follow all directions and look for signs of infection and rejection

It can take up to 9 months to a year for a belly piercing to completely heal.  If you go swimming with out it completely healed you run the risk of getting an infection.  Depends on the waters your swimming in.

Yeah, you should be good to go by September,but definitely keep it clean  until it heals. So you don't have to worry during the vacay.

What way would you ensure its clean if you do go swimming to stop it getting infected? Like what procedures would you go through?

I got mine done when I was 13 and it was the summer. I was always in pools and running around. I never had any issues with it except that I was allergic to the type of metal it was so we had to go from the ring to a silver bar. I've also ripped mine numerous times catching it on the bottom of the counter and things like that. I'm now almost 26.
