Do it yourselfers

Question

This isn't about adult relationships but I couldn't find a better group to put this in. 
My husband fell and his hand went through the wall. It's a good size hole...we are renting an apartment so I'm wondering if I need to give in and call maintenance or patch it ourselves. I've never done a patch before. If you have any tips for doing so o would greatly appreciate them:)      (My hand for scale, he's a pretty big guy)

I would fix it myself but I have some experience with drywall and repairs. It will be hard to repair as that spot will be either a lighter or darker color (unless you paint all the walls) and an inspector would be able to tell. If you laid a deposit down on the apartment, they'd take out of it and you just wouldn't get that back when you decide to move out.

I'd hang a large picture over it. Or use duct tape to patch it.

Drydex putty and this metal mesh you can buy at a hard ware store . Just go in and tell them you put a hole through the wall , they'll instruct you on what to buy .

YouTube is also your best friend , it'll look like there was no hole at all
