Anatomy scan found 2 markers?!?!

So we went for our anatomy scan today and found out we're having a girl!!! So exciting but then the doc came in and said they spotted 2 "soft markers" includingn a cyst or sac of fluid on he brain and Echogenic intraventricular focus which is a calcification on the heart.  All my other tests came back low risk so the doc wasn't too concerned but she said now instead of 1 in 5000 risk I have a 1 in 2500 risk of baby having Down's syndrome.  We are getting the blood test for genetic screening done today but I am freaking out has anyone had this before??

We had the heart marker as well and within 4 weeks it was gone.   I know mommas with babes who had the brain issue as well and everyone of there's cleared up.  Stay positive:). I'm sure all is well.

I've heard many woman have these markers and their baby was born perfectly healthy.  Try not to worry still on the higher odds.

1 in 2500 is still a long shot! Remember there's a 2499 in 2500 chance of a perfectly healthy baby! Don't stress, it won't help anything. ❤️

My baby girl had the echogenic focus on her heart and all my other tests came back very, very low risk. They did an ultrasound at 28 weeks to make sure that the echogenic focus went away and it did :) my ob said those are more common than you think and usually resolve themselves by the third trimester! I wouldnt worry, especially if your other tests came back low risk! :)

Thanks guys I didn't realize how anxious I would get bc I never expected to hear anything like that today bc I was so focused on finding out gender.  That's really helpful to hear that U all know ppl plus im 18 weeks so maybe it's something that wld have been gone if I went at 20 weeks- ugh it's guna be the longest week ever either way but thanks for giving me some peace of mind so maybe I can sleep tonight

I also had a marker come up on one of my twins today (white spots on her heart). My doctor didn't seem concerned because all of my other tests came back normal and she looks perfectly healthy otherwise. I still opted to do the MaterniT21 blood test because I just want piece of mind at this point - it's so hard not to worry!

Now the waiting game is on and will be tough, but I hope that we both get good news sooner rather than later! Keep us updated and good luck!
