Any Mommys having a Clefty?

My first son had a cleft lip and palate and I only found out when he was born. He was so perfect from the moment I laid eyes on him! I would love to help you through if you are feeling anxious!

Im 13 weeks & 5 days pregnant. I feel that if my baby comes out with any abnormalities i will still love her. She is my heart. My cousins wife told me she wanted to give her baby away because its a possibility that her son could have down syndrome. I was completely in shock but also mad because that baby is a gift from god. I have done blood work to see if my child will have any chromosomal abnormalities & everything came back fine. But if some appeared to be wrong with my baby at birth i wouldn't care. I would do everything i could to love her & to care for her.

The doctors say that there is a chance it could be hereditary but they arent really sure. You have a 1 in 700 chance is what I was told. Those odds are higher than having a baby with downs. I loved him from the moment I knew he was growing inside me and I wouldnt change a thing. Doctors these days are so great and they fixed Noahs lip and palate beautifully. I believe that God would not give you a child that you cant handle! I am so blessed to have my little guy and another one on the way!

How is his speech? 
How many surgeries are you expecting him to have? 
Does he have other syndromes related to cleft lip cleft palate?

We just found out our son is going to be born with a definite cleft lip and possible palate, he's stubborn in the womb so she couldn't tell but we are going to be having monthly ultrasounds to watch development. My boyfriend was born with a complete lip and palate cleft and so were two of his other family members, we have done the blood testing and everything was perfect, so they think it's definitely hereditary considering he has it. Any advice for a new cleft mommy(I have one daughter before without)? I feel so lost on what is the best bottles to feed him and how to protect it until he gets his surgeries. I'm not worried about him having one and love him regardless, it's just everything else.

I am very curious about this I have two cousins who both had a daughter with cleft pallet and cleft lip. I had imagined they would be able to detect this via ultrasound. Wondering if this could be hereditary?
