Books about birth & newborns?

Has anybody read any books that were actually helpful/insightful? I've been pretty unimpressed with most literature on childbirth. I'd love to read something that leaves room for free thought. :)

My sister (a speech and language pathologist specializing in early intervention) suggested books by T Berry Brazelton for development and behavioral info.  I'm currently fresked about raising my critter to be stable, emotionally balanced and self sufficient. ( unlike its mommy until her mid twenties! 😉)

My neighbor gave me Ina May's Guide to Childbirth, which I thumbed through the other night. She's a midwife, and a good 1/3 of the book is just different birth stories. She also has a chapter on mind-body connection and other techniques to help you have a complication-free birth. I'm not 100% sure I would recommend it--like I said, I just thumbed through it--but it's definitely a different approach to other books I've seen, which have tended to be more clinical.

The Birth Partner is great. Technically,  my husband is reading it, and it's geared toward dads, partners, doulas,  but the bits I've read have been really helpful, and straightforward.

Mommy IQ by Rosie Pope is great so far.  Part girlfriend's guide but has clear info in they're from doctors and specialists
