Iv been bleeding since the 17th of may. I got the depo shot while I was on my period and then didnt have another for 2 months. Then this long one. With horrible cramps. Has anyone else bleed this long because of the depo shot ?! If so what birth control should I try next that didn't make you bleed for a month.

That happened to me on Depo. It made my period last super long, I bled between periods. I HATED Depo. I switch to NuvaRing after and it really worked for me. Talk to your doctor and see what your opinions are.

With the depo your period may and probably will be random/unpredicable for up to the first year and a half while on it. You may have a normal period, you may have a period for 3wks, you may spot for a month or any combination or all. But eventually, most people stop bleeding altogether after that year. Everyone is different and will react differently to depo. You cannot predict that how someone reacted to depo that, that will happen to you. If you feel really concerned consult your doctor. But otherwise the depo is the cause for any irregularity. I was on depo 3yrs, the last 2 I had no bleeding so if you stick it out you can be bleed free. Since then i've switched to the implant and that's good too but with this the bleeding may not eventually stop. It's even more random with the implant.

I think the depo shot is the devil, 6 years ago i took the depo after my second child and i bleed for 8 months i never took it again....fastforward to this past february i went the doctor to get on some type of birth control cause I'm super fertile and i dont want get pregnant anytime soon, so i took while i was on my period as well and that was  then my period stopped for like 2 weeks in march and it came back the 3rd week in march and has been on ever since I'm so annoyed and disappointed because I told the doctor of my experience 6yrs ago and she said i have allow my body to get used to it, now i feel like I'm having to experience all over again ugh, and i call to tell the doc my plyth and she's gonna say you have to take shots 3-4 times before the extended bleeding will stop that's a whole damn year that'd I'd have to put up with this annoying bleedibg that comes really strong cramps periodically i haven't had sex in two months and husband is having a hard time cause we went from an active sex life of 5-6 times a week to nothing at all

Ive tried depo twice. Each time i bled for almost a year straight even though the second time i only got one shot. I hate it! But it is a listed side effect. The longer you are on it the less likely you are to have any bleeding at all though..

I guess it's just how your body reacts I loved it didn't have a period for 4 years on it it was awesome!

I did but only after having my son. I think I bleed for 2 months straight!
