Braxton hicks contractions? Worried.

Question

Last night, I noticed some cramping, and people told me it could just be Braxton hicks contractions. Today, I still have this uncomfortable feeling. I don't know whether it's a contraction or not. It kind of feels like I did a bunch of crunches, and now my stomach and abs are sore. It doesn't feel like it comes and goes either, more like an all-day pain. I've called my nurse, but no response yet. I'm 26 weeks along. What do contractions feel like? Did this happen to you? I dont want to go into pre-term labor!!

I used to ask what contractions feel like, wondering if I'd know when I'm having them or not. Trust me, you'll know. I've had both painful and non painful ones and it feels like your whole stomach gets REALLY SUPER tight like everything is squeezing and it'll last like 30 seconds and then it'll slowly let go. During the contraction your whole belly will be hard as a rock too. It'll happen once and you'll say "Oh. So that's a contraction!" Haha That's what happened for me at least.

Is this your first baby? I think for me, the first time every ache and pain made me nervous. ( I am carrying my third). But I will say Braxton hicks' are the warm up before the party actually starts :). And you will definitely know when they are real. The best way I can explain it, is that your entire body tenses up, you can't move, and sometimes you can't even speak. I don't say this to scare you at all. Because no matter how uncomfortable it all is, once you see that beautiful baby's face you won't even remember any of it. (Btw I have had  2 vaginal births without epidural and I don't remember most of the pain)

My midwife says Braxton hicks are painless... Uncomfortable but painless. Real labour contractions are painful... As bad or worse than period cramps. I started having Bh at 25 weeks. they made it hard to breathe but weren't painful. Just uncomfortable. If you can talk through it she says its BH.

I also had some cramping and Dr said I'm fine as long as I'm not bleeding and baby is still moving around. Mention your symptoms to your Dr and they may get you an ultrasound to give you piece of mind.

Seems like it is just soreness from things moving and stretching. If you do happen to have contractions try drinking lots of water and laying down. If they are regular or painful call your doctor.

My belly is sore and I'm 30 weeks. I was told it was more likely from babys position since everything looked good when I was checked. My lower belly is what is sore and I get pressure every once in a while. I do feel her kicks low though, so I know she's dropped some. This would be my first live baby, so I'm still nervous but I keep telling myself the doctors know what they're talking about. You will certainly know when you're in labor and having real contractions...it's super painful and it usually starts in the back and wraps it's way around to the abdomen. I lost my first little girl at 18 weeks, and labor was horrible for me.
