Frustrated! Doctor wants to put me on clomid..but no diagnosis?
A bit of a rant..sorry it's long!
I had an appointment with my obgyn yesterday, to figure out why my cycles have suddenly gone from regular (always 30ish days) to long and irregular. Like..45 days, then 76, then 41..now I'm on day 59 and don't think I've ovulated yet. I was really hoping to figure out why this is happening, expected him to ask about symptoms and medical history, do some sort of exam or something. But no. He came in, told me it sounds like I'm not ovulating regularly (no shit..), that they could give me something to start my period and from there all he would do is put me on clomid. But did not even try to figure out what is causing this! I asked about PCOS and he pretty much just shrugged it off, saying well yeah it could be but we would treat that with clomid so it doesn't really matter. But obviously it matters to me or I wouldn't have even made the appointment! They're drawing blood to test prolactin levels, progesterone levels to see if I have ovulated, HCG, and glucose. But not for another week. The only other thing he's tested previously is my thyroid (thyroid problems run in my family). I'm just not sure why he doesn't seem to want to even try to figure out why this is happening. That is literally all I wanted out of that appointment. I don't want to be put on any sort of medication "just to see if it helps", I want to know what's wrong and see what I can do to try to fix the problem naturally, if possible, before resorting to medications! I'm thinking I might get a second opinion. Anyone out there with a similar experience, maybe could provide some insight?
