When Should You Get Your First OB/GYN Appt. and US?

I confirmed my pregnancy with a urine sample at the GP's office, but can't get in to see my OB/GYN until I'm 8 weeks along. Does that seem too late for the first official visit and ultrasound? And is it weird if my husband wants to be at this checkup?

That's about standard, really, unless they have reason to believe you are high risk. And it's not at all weird that your husband wants to be there, mine is going with me to all appointments :)

That's normal and this is your husbands baby too of course he wants to be there. My husband goes to everyone.

That's very normal. My hospital wouldn't see patients until 8-12 weeks. And of course your partner should come! You will learn a lot and probably hear a heart beat.

They usually want you to wait until 8-10wks for your first one. My Dr said they don't even take anyone before then.

My doctor saw me to confirm at 5 weeks but I didn't go in for an actual appointment until 8 weeks. My first ultrasound was at almost 14 weeks and that was my ERA so it was elective. The only other US I will get is 20 weeks when they tell me the gender and check on fetal development. My bf went to the 5 week, 8 week, and 12 week appointments, as well as both US's. But that's all he will go to as he has to work. Hope this helps!

That is a normal time frame for your first appointment. Mine was just a pap, medical history and bloodwork. I think it is great if your husband wants to go. My doc encourages partner involvement. My doc doesn't do the first ultrasound until 20 weeks for the a healthy pregnancy

My doctor does not see you until 8-10 weeks and normally no ultrasound until 20 weeks. I only got in sooner and got an early ultrasound because I was bleeding at one point but thankfully everything was fine. And I would hope your husband would want to go! It's a bonding experience for both of you.
