It hurts at first, while you are both learning. It's a major adjustment! After a few weeks, the pain should go away. And it it hurts all the way through a feeding it's probably an indication that the latch isn't quite right. I used to curl my toes and count to about fifteen to get through the pain for those first weeks. After that the pain would ease up and I could relax. Most of the time it doesn't hurt, and it's so convenient!

At first it can because your nipples aren't used to it. Rubbing lansolin and your own milk on your nipples helps a lot! After about a week it shouldn't hurt to nurse at all. Biting...ya that's a whole other story haha

Most of the time, it hurts because your baby isn't latched on properly. So make sure you learn what a proper latch is while you're still at the hospital. You can unlatch and try again. Make sure your positioning is good and if you're using a breast shield, make sure it's the right size.

I get pain when my let down happens but that lasts like 3-4 seconds but no pain from her feeding. I have a very strong let down that chokes baby and a over supply that's why it hurts.
 If it hurts when baby feeds then the latch it wrong.

Breastfeeding for me was very painful for about a month, the let down was kind of a sharp pain and my son was latching perfectly but I was told he had a high palate...if it does hurt there could be a problem with the latch but pain does not always mean anything is wrong.  After a month it stopped hurting and it was a breeze, best thing I ever did.  Also, you can buy a nipple shield if the pain gets too bad and USE NIPPLE CREAM! Those saved my life.

It didn't hurt me, it only hurt when bubbs got older and would bite down on my nipple! Oww!
