When to tell family

So hubby and I just found out we are pregnant.  I am 36 so really nervous about this even though many people tell me it will be fine, and members of my own family have had kids after 35.  How long before you feel it is safe to tell family and friends?  My best friend (my age) is pregnant with her second (a week ahead of me even!!) and said they wait until they hear the heart beat the first time.  I know the moment we tell my mother she will begin plans to invade us (she is retired, dang it!)  just unsure when to say anything.

I'm 36, too. There's no right or wrong time. Do whatever makes you happy and puts you at ease. :)

I told my mom the day I found out because she's awesome and I wanted her support no matter what. We told my in-laws at 4 weeks because my mother-in-law has health issues and we thought she might have to have surgery. This is their first grandchild and it's lifting their spirits.

I told close girlfriends between 4-8 weeks. I wanted their support whatever happened.

I told my employees at 12 weeks after the high risk, detailed ultrasound  turned out well.

I'm telling my dad, sister, and other family tomorrow at 13+2 because it's the first time I can tell them in person.

We decided to do what's right for me and DH. It's worked well for us. I hope this is helpful. :)

I'm 36 we told the kids and our mom's at 5 weeks then told other family at 6 weeks now at 11 weeks I think 1/2 the county knows.

My family is not going yo be happy or supportive,  so I'm waiting awhile...

I am not able to tell my mom because she has a big mouth and the only way I can make sure no one knows is not to tell her lol. I plan on telling her when I feel safe everything is ok and I don't mind if someone else knows

I told my mom in secret at 5 weeks we told my in laws after our 7 wk ultrasound I would have waited longer to tell the inlaws simply bc my mother in law is like a news channel and everyone finds out

My mom is retired and a very strong personality.  I have no doubt she would keep it a secret but she would drive me nuts with the "you must do this and that and it has to be this way!"  She got it in her head I was allergic to milk which I eat all the time and am not.  Now if I mention having any she jumps my case lol.  So I don't want to tell her too soon.  But by the same token I don't want to hurt her feelings!  As for the rest of my family they are all in Florida we are in Indiana so I can't do it face to face.  My husband's parents are both passed, but if we tell his oldest sister it will spread like wild fire!  They are all here.  I will have to see what feels right!  Thank you all for your input!
