The pill

I've decided I want to go on the pill for a variety of reasons, including as additional contraception for when the time comes with my boyfriend, but I only recently turned 16 and so my mother still has quite a hold on me.

So the problem is, I know I should go to her and discuss it with her (as she has always wanted me to) but she is very possessive and 'wraps me up in cotton wool' and especially when it comes to my boyfriend, she doesn't trust us. I've been with him for 2 years and if the worst was to happen, I know he would stick by me throughout everything.

So should I talk to my mum about going on the pill? Therefore risking my current relationship and what trust I have with her, as well as risking my freedom to see my boyfriend.

Or should I take matters into my own hands and go to the doctors to discuss it with them, before getting myself on the pill?
