Is it true that if you breast feed you won't get a period?

Plently of women who exclusively breastfeed will not get a period......but just because you don't get a period doesn't mean you are not ovulating......everyone is different though and some women will get their periods still.

I didn't get my period for a year after each of my babies I thought this was normal for all moms then my friend with a 4 month old who bottle feeds said she had already got hers.I was so surprised lol

Most time as long as you're breastfeeding exclusively you won't get your period. When you feed your Baby some additional food after 6 months - than there will be your period showing again. For me it was 9 months without any bleeding with my first child and 1 year without bleeding with my second child. But have in mind: you can ovulate even when you don't bleed...

Usually yes but it depends on the person.

It depends on the woman, her hormones, and certain rules of breastfeeding. Many women can delay the return of their fertility with on cue breastfeeding but for some their fertility is determined to come back early! I wouldn't recommend it as birth control without thorough charting to accompany it!
