Incompetent Cervix & Funneling
I just found out Thursday (5/28/15) that at 19 weeks and 4 days my cervix is short (just under 2 I think cm?) and is starting to funnel. Unfortunately, my regular OB was out of town on an emergency so I only saw the nurse practitioner. She immediately put me on strict bed rest and later the dr on call put me on progesterone as well. I see my regular doc & a specialist on Monday (6/1/15). I also had extreme cramping Friday night, but after talking to on call doc and taking some Tylenol and drinking a lot of water I feel better.
They didn't do a cerclage immediately as this is my first pregnancy ever. I guess my main question is how common is strict bedrest for the remainder of the pregnancy with both incompetent & a funneling cervix? What route do dr's usually take other than the progesterone (or shot)? I'm really scared for my baby girl, who's not due until October 18th.
