Spider bite on toddler?

So my son has two bites on his face, one on this temple that really got swollen and finally came to a head today, and now it's a little scabby, and a very small one I'm not even worried about. But then today I saw a HUGE one on his hand! I have been putting honest company healing balm on his face and it seems to make it a little better, and I also put the healing balm on his hand once I noticed it tonight. I think they're spider bites but at the same time I'm not sure. They're shiny because I had just washed them and put fresh cream on them. What do you think? We don't live in an area with super poisonous spiders, except black widows but I know it's not a widow bite but it doesn't look like mosquito or anything 😓

Also check his sleeping and play areas. If it's spider, ants, or any other critter you don't want to keep putting him back in the same environments. Spiders are territorial.

Make sure to wash all his stuffed animals and dolls as well! I made that mistake once. Couldn't figure out where the bits were coming from.

You're right that the one on his face doesn't look like a mosquito. However, I am allergic to some mosquito bites (still haven't figured out why some give me the terrible reaction and some don't) and the one on his hand looks like some mosquito bites I've had. No one else in my family is allergic to them. So don't rule that out unless there's really no mosquitos around.

Give him some children's Benadryl, I work in a pharmacy and that's the best thing to do. It will allow him to sleep and not itch them and cause bleeding or infection. Don't give it to him during the day though because it will make him drowsy. They also make Benadryl cream that may help too!!

Was he playing outside, by chance? The one on his temple looks like spot my daughter gets when she's bitten by a black fly. These boogers look like a sweat bee, and they usually go for her head for some reason. Their bite usually bleeds, and apparently she's super allergic because she gets HUGE, inflamed knots from them. I took her to the doctor the first time she got one because the knot on the side of her head got so big it was disfiguring. I always give her benadryl right away to lower her reaction to the bite, then apply witch hazel topically for the inflammation.

I would definitely consider bed bugs. I saw that you said he has a plastic baby mattress and you washed his stuff, doesn't matter.

Trust me, you want to have a professional come check.

My husband and I went to Mexico and apparently brought one home with us. I got bit, much like your son. Stripped my bed, found nothing. Called an exterminator and he found one and some eggs hiding in a dark corner. He showed me and I needed a flashlight and the right angle to see it. He treated that day and we haven't had a problem since (nearly a year now).

My friend wasn't so lucky though. Not sure how she picked them up but years ago she got bit, ignored it and when it happened again she assumed it was mosquitoes. Well, a week later she had them visibly crawling all over her stuff at night and it took 9 months to get rid of them.

That one on his hand is especially worrisome because of bed bug behavior...and hand would be an easy, uncovered target.

Almost looks like bed bug bites. My friend had those even though her house was super clean! Not sure though.. I agree with the others. Go to the doctor

Those look like a spider bite, or even a mosquito bite. I get them really really bad sometimes and they become massive. The one on his face may be a sweat rash. I've gotten marks like that all over my boobs and my ribs right now which are super itchy when things rub against them and I think they're either flea bites or a sweat rash. I also got a mark on my hand that's a blister that looks like the one on your sons hand. Use ice to take away any swelling and redness and heat to bring any poison, which all bites have in them, to the surface and if it develops a head don't pop it let it pop naturally using heat and ice and then keep it clean. You can also use an astringent like rubbing alcohol or tea tree oil to dry it out. It's what I've been doing on mine and it's been helping quite a bit. But if your really concerned and have a bad feeling about it take him to the Dr and have them take a look to just make you feel better. I took my son to the ER a couple days ago because my dentist and my DH suggested it and I didnt even think of it before because he fell and hit his face on the concrete at the playground and he cracked a molar, he hit his eyebrow and got a major goose egg and I don't even think of what kind of damage he could've done to his eye socket if he cracked a tooth and it didn't bother me until it was suggested by DH and the dentist.
