1st Trimester Genetic Testing?

Question

I'm 8w6d and my OB offered me optional 1st Trimester Screening. It's a a simple blood draw & an ultrasound so it's non-invasive and it has to be completed by my 10th week, but  I'm not sure I want to do it. This isn't my first pregnancy, my son is 6yo. I opted out of all of the additional testing with him (No CVS or Amnio) and I'm not high risk whatsoever. Just curious as to what other Jan 2016 moms are doing.

I'm going to opt out of that testing. It's not definitive and I'm concerned it could give extra unnecessary concern, causing me to be labelled high risk when I'm most definitely not. Also, it wouldn't change whether I would see the pregnancy to term. And lastly, since the tests don't give a definitive answer, it could easily cause a whole lot of unneeded stress and worry for no reason.

Yes, we opted out of those years with both of our daughters. Our second daughter has Downs Syndrome though and it was quite a surprise at her birth, so we are going to do the testing this time. I am afraid that it will just cause extra unnecessary worry though if the results don't come back good. But we would rather know ahead of time if there is something to prepare for.

My Dr told me it is standard now, regardless of age. I'm happy to have it!

I'm opting out of it as well. My husband and I both agree it will produce extra worry & we believe we wouldn't be given something we couldn't handle!

When.I.was pregnant in 2013 I opted out when my.doctor offered me one but my SON who.was there with me told me to.do it since it was his first child he wanted to.make sure everything was okay and it turned out my baby was very.sick !!!she was born very preemie at only 28 weeks with heart defects and lots of fluids.in.her brain!
She ended up.passing away on my birthday .
This time around I'm having all the genetic.tests done just to.ease my mind !!!There is always a chance good luck

I am doing the testing as soon as possible. I did it with my baby girl we lost in Dec at 14wks. It was tuff not to get solid answers As to why she passed going into second tri but that's medicine I suppose. I'm glad we did the testing cuz at least we knew it wasn't genetic or anything to do with her chromosomes or anything like that. She was perfectly fine. The other good thing the testing did was tell us further testing shld be done on me to c if there's anything genetic or other wise putting me at risk for trying agn. By the grace of God all tests were fine there also. And here we r 7wks with our rainbow baby. My Dr will do the test at 10wks. Just sharing my experience but to each their own. I was told I wouldn't even be getting the genetic testing because no one in my immediate family or my fiance immediate family has down syndrome so it's highly unlikely. I wanted the test to tell me the gender early.  Lol I did however get offered a test for sickle cell anemia I think. Which I opted out of because once again I don't even know anyone who has this so the extra stress was unnecessary
